Scrumptious Goodies to Have Around - Trish Berg

Some things are a tradition at the Berg house around Christmas time. One of those, is having Chex Mix on hand. My husband, Mike, loves to snack on Chex Mix, and so we bake it all month long.

The Original Chex® Party Mix

Still great after all these years! Chex® Party Mix has been a party favorite for over 50 years.

Prep Time:15 min
Start to Finish:15 min
Makes:24 servings (1/2 cup each)

Ingredients:
3 cups Corn Chex® cereal
3 cups Rice Chex® cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex® cereal
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup bite-size pretzels
1 cup garlic-flavor bite-size bagel chips or regular-size bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Preparation Directions:
1. In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, nuts, pretzels and bagel chips; set aside. In small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
2. Microwave uncovered on High 5 to 6 minutes, thoroughly stirring every 2 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

Spiced Nuts 'n Chex® Mix

Chili powder and red pepper spice up this party-perfect mix—it will disappear quickly!

Prep Time:10 min
Start to Finish:25 min
Makes:16 servings (1/2 cup each)

Ingredients:
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups Corn Chex® cereal
2 cups Rice Chex® cereal
2 cups Wheat Chex® cereal
1 can (11.5 oz) mixed nuts

Preparation Directions:
Oven Directions: Heat oven to 300°F. Mix sugar, chili powder and red pepper. In ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in cereals and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated. Bake uncovered 25 to 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.
